I am a certified mold inspector / remediator.  I have been doing mold testing and removal for about 5 years now.  Mold has become more of an issue now than it was a few years ago.  I myself live in Las Vegas, Nevada and that is where I do my work.  The most common phrase I hear is "It never rains in nevada, how can I possibly have mold???  Well the answer to that is simple, most mold problems are not caused by rain!

Here are some common problems that can cause mold.

~ Leaking pipes behind walls, showers etc.

~ Plumbing Leaks

~ Sprinklers hitting the house

~ Bad seals around shower or shower doors

~ Flooding

~ Roof leaks

Here are some signs you can look for to see if you might have a mold issue.

~ Swelling of drywall and/or baseboard (when drywall   and baseboad get wet, they will swell)

~ Baseboard pulling or cracking away from the wall

~ Signs of water staining on drywall, baseboard etc. (It will usualy apear as a yellow stain)

~ Visible signs of mold

Some Possible Health Effects of Mold

• Respiratory Distress, Coughing, Sneezing.
• Burning in the throat and lungs (Similar to Acid Reflux)
• Difficulty swallowing, Choking, Vomiting
• Asthmatic signs (Wheezing, shortness of breath, Coughing, burning  in lungs etc.)
• Irritable bowel syndrome
• Bladder, Spleen or Kidney pain
• Dark Urine
• Vision Problems
• Swollen Lymph Nodes
• Headaches
• Anxiety / Depression
• Ringing in ears, Balance Problems, Dizziness
• Night sweats and hot flashes (especially around the head)

NOTE: MANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS COULD ALSO BE ONSET OF OTHER ILLNESSES, AS WELL, AND ONLY A SKILLED PHYSICIAN SHOULD GIVE YOU A FULL AND QUALIFIED DIAGNOSES!!!

I did not list the possible health effects to scare you!!!  I wanted to give you as much information as possible so you know what to look for.  Mold can be a major issue, but it doesn't have to be.
